Good morning, Broncos Country!

Simon Fletcher is now a member of the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame.

One of the best defenders in Denver Broncos history received the honor on Wednesday with the rest of the Class of 2025. Fletcher ranks No. 2 on the Broncos’ all-time sack list with 97.5, trailing only Von Miller with 110.5. Up until 2019, Fletcher was the franchise leader in sacks.

Fletcher was a second-round pick out of Houston in 1985. The 6-foot-5, 240-pound defensive end played all 11 seasons in Denver, playing in three Super Bowls. Fletcher was inducted into the Broncos Ring of Fame in 2016.

As Fletcher said to the Broncos website:

“This moment means that not only am I considered in the Ring of Fame among some of the greatest Broncos to ever play, but now it covers the entire state of Colorado. To be counted among (the best) statewide athletes in every single sport is quite an honor.”

Fletcher is joined by Mikaela Shiffrin, Larry Brown, Troy Tulowitzki, Lisa Van Goor, and Bubbles Anderson, who were also inducted on Wednesday.

Fletcher wasn’t the only Broncos player to earn recognition from the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame. Cornerback Pat Surtain II was named one of the Athletes of the Year. That makes sense since Surtain was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year. The other Athletes of the Year were Nikola Jokic and Nathan MacKinnon. That’s not bad a list to be on.
