Malta, NY — The New York State Police have identified the troopers involved in an officer-involved shooting at the State Police Barracks in Malta on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
The troopers are Trooper Eric Brown, Trooper Nicholas Dziamba, and Trooper Joshua Mallard.
Trooper Eric Brown, a member of the State Police for over 19 years, is assigned to Troop G, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit.
Trooper Nicholas Dziamba, with more than nine years of service, is assigned to Troop G, SP Charlton.
Trooper Joshua Mallard, who joined the State Police in April 2024, is assigned to Troop G, SP Saratoga.
All three troopers are currently on voluntary leave.
According to the State Police, Trooper Dziamba and Trooper Mallard were inside the building at the time of the incident, while Trooper Brown responded from the immediate area.
