Spring Jubilee – County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation: Celebration of springtime with activities that include egg hunts, crafts, games, performances and food tasting, through April 19. City of Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival: The city celebrates cowboy culture plus Santa Clarita Valley’s ties to cowboy/western films made in the area — and, of course, movie star William S. Hart — with three music stages (cowboy, country, folk, bluegrass performances), living history areas, line dance lessons, a pioneer activities corner, food and vendors, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. April 12-13. Rubel Castle: The castle is an elaborate folk-art medieval castle in the foothills of Glendora, with 5-story tall towers solidly built out of junk and river rocks by the late Michael Rubel and his friends. USC Pacific Asia Museum: Ongoing special exhibit: “Cai Guo-Qiang: A Material Odyssey,” is based on the artist’s gunpowder painting and drawings, through the lens of scientific research conducted by the Getty Conservation Institute and the Getty Research Institute, through June 15. The exhibition fills most of the museum’s galleries with a selection of the artist’s work, as well as scientific imagery that explores the nature of gunpowder, its influence on his work, and how his process has evolved through the last four decades.
