The patriotic event "Victory Relay" is held in honor of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War on the initiative of the Border Service of the FSB of Russia. A ceremonial transfer of the relay symbol - a miniature border post - took place at Pulkovo Airport.
The guests of the ceremony were greeted by Andrey Nikolaevich Potapov, Major General of the Border Service of the FSB of Russia in reserve. Singer Ekaterina Rozhkova performed military songs.
On March 15, the symbol left St. Petersburg for Cherepovets on a Severstal flight.
"Victory Relay" passes through the territory of 9 CIS countries - the Republics of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation. Ceremonial events are held in each locality on all routes.
The event is held from February 2 to May 28 along the external borders of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States along two routes: the southern one starts from the Brest Fortress, the northern one - in Murmansk. The start was given on February 2 and is timed to coincide with the end date of the turning point of the Great Patriotic War - the Battle of Stalingrad (February 2, 1943).
The end of the relay is planned for May 28 in Moscow in the Alexander Garden on the territory of the memorial complex "Tomb of the Unknown Soldier" on the Day of the Border Service of the FSB of Russia.
