Experts to share lessons learned as 2025 hurricane season nears

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - The start of the 2025 hurricane season is now about two months away and some people who helped the community recover from last year’s devastating hurricanes will be sharing their knowledge to help citizens better prepare for the future.

An event titled “Lessons Learned: Weathering the Storm,” billed as an evening of reflection and insights, will be held Wednesday, April 2 at the Neel Performing Arts Center at State College of Florida in Bradenton.

Speakers include William Tokajer, chief of the Holmes Beach Police Department, Charlie Hunsicker, natural resources director for Manatee County, and ABC7 First Alert Chief Meteorologist Bob Harrigan.

The event is free. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the event starting at 7 p.m.
