'We're never going to forget': Family remembers Orange County mom of 4 killed in domestic shooting
A family is mourning the loss of a mother who was shot and killed at her home in Orange County.
"This is something that we're never going to forget," said Cordeja Paige, the victim's daughter and the oldest child. "This just happened, so we need time to grieve and be there for each other."
Takeshia Eads, 42, was shot to death Tuesday afternoon on West Livingston Street near Ronnie Circle.
Deputies said her husband, 41-year-old Lamar Antonio Bryant, was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree murder.
They are working to piece together what led up to the deadly shooting in Orlo Vista but said the shooting was domestic.
Eads' family told WESH 2 that she was a mother of four with four grandchildren.
"I was laying in the bed with my wife watching TV," Richard Roberson, who lives near the victim's house, said. "I heard like four or five shots back to back ... could have been six."
Records show Bryant and Eads were married for more than a decade and both lived in the house.
"I was the only sibling with my own dad; my other three siblings — that's their dad," Paige said. "I really don't have too much to say about [Lamar Bryant] because, at the end of the day, the Lord is going to deal with that ... but I do know it's crazy to say my mama forgives him because just the type of person she is."
The victim's daughters said their mom was a selfless woman who always showed up for the people she loved.
"She was definitely very holy. She helped everybody out. Everybody loved her!" said Takiya Bryant, the victim's daughter and the youngest of her siblings.
Hurricane Ian flooded homes in Orlo Vista in 2022, and at the time, WESH 2 spoke with Eads about how she was helping her mom recover.
"We didn't lose pictures and everything last time, but this time we did, so all the memories we had, they're gone," Eads said in the September 2022 interview.
Eads' family said she loved and cared for her mom.
"My grandma is not OK, but she's taking it day by day," Paige said. "So, I don't think nobody would want to bury their child and go through this kind of situation."
Court records show Lamar Bryant has a long criminal history and was most recently arrested twice this month but bonded out two weeks ago.
