Loose Women's Janet Street-Porter recalls 'scary' holiday incident as she makes return

The broadcaster found herself trapped for ten days while in Australia

Loose Women's Janet Street-Porter made her return to the panel on Tuesday (March 25) as she recalled a "scary" incident from her most recent holiday.

The 78-year-old broadcaster returned to the ITV chat show alongside Ruth Langsford, Coleen Nolan and Mariella Frostrup to tackle the latest trending news and topics across the country.

As Ruth welcomed everyone to the show, she announced: "Of course, welcome back Janet. So, Janet, there I was sunning myself in the Caribbean for my birthday and I'm thinking you're sunning yourself in Australia, but no."

Janet, unamused, replied: "As I arrived in Australia, typhoon Andrew was off shore and for the next ten days I lived in a state of high alert."

She continued: "I was given a walkie-talkie, I had to go and bulk buy water, we were trapped in our house. The road to our house we rented was flooded... It was scary stuff, but you know me... Then on the very last day of my holiday, the sun came out."

The audience then burst into laughter as Loose Women showed a clip from Janet's Instagram which showed her stood outside in the torrential rain wearing sunglasses and a shower cap to wish Coleen Nolan a "happy birthday".

In the video Janet said: "Hi everyone, JSP here I’m on my long awaited holiday in Australia, and guess what? I’m in the middle of a storm.

"I haven’t left home for four days, I’ve been swimming once in my shower hat… It’s rain, rain, rain, rain, rain.. Anyway I’m having a great time swimming in the rain. Happy Birthday Coleen, bye!"

Janet responded: "Why are they all laughing? I went swimming in my shower cap, I make do." Mariella supported her co-star as she added: "That's my favourite shower hat, I have one like that."

Coleen then welcomed Ruth back to the show who joked: "You did notice I was gone then?" to which Coleen responded: "Not really, no."
