New Delhi: Cyclone Biparjoy is predicted to intensify and cause rough to very rough sea conditions over the adjoining areas of the South Arabian Sea on June 9 and June 10, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Friday in a new development about the severe cyclonic storm.

The weather department said that the cyclonic storm would intensify gradually in the next 24 hours and move nearly north-northwestwards in the next three days.

According to the IMD forecast Biaparjoy will cause phenomenal sea conditions over the east-central Arabian Sea between June 9 and 10. “Rough to very rough sea condition is likely to prevail over adjoining areas of the South Arabian Sea.

The cyclonic storm Biparjay over the Arabian Sea moved slowly northeastwards with a speed of 6 kilometre per hour in the past six hours.

Sea conditions are likely to be phenomenal over the northeast and adjoining Central and Northwest Arabian Sea on June 11, the IMD predicted.

An IMD official said that as the cyclonic storm is away from the Indian coasts it would not leave any direct impact but squally winds and rainfall to prevail in parts of Gujarat coast, Goa, Mumbai and along and off Saurashtra and Kutch coasts between June 10 to June 15.
