Morocco sends urgent humanitarian assistance to Mozambique


(MENAFN) On Sunday, emergency humanitarian assistance, sent by Morocco to cyclone-hit Mozambique, arrived in the eastern city of Beira, the Moroccan official MAP news agency reported.

The cyclone struck southern Africa, leaving hundreds of deaths in Mozambique in addition to nearby Zimbabwe and Malawi.

The 39-ton humanitarian assistance package, containing tents, blankets and basic foodstuffs, was arrived in Mozambique by four Moroccan Royal Armed Forces airplane, the report stated, adding that it was handed over to the Mozambican government.

The Mozambican Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Higino De Marrule conveyed his thankfulness to Morocco.
