  • Tropical Cyclone KAI-TAK (named URDUJA in the Philippines) continued moving south-southwest as a Tropical Storm. On 20 December at 0.00 UTC, it was located 470 km north-west of Seria city (Brunei) and 690 km south-east of Vung Tau city (Vietnam).

  • Over the next 24 hours, it is forecast to continue moving south-west over the South China sea, heading toward west Malaysia, probably still as a Tropical Storm. Over 20-24 December, heavy rain may occur over several regions of southern Vietnam, northern Borneo island, west Malaysia, southern Cambodia, southern Thailand and Sumatra island (Indonesia)

  • According to local media, as of 20 December, at least 46 people have been killed in the Philippines. As national authorities mentioned on 20 December, 19 people were reported injured and two more went missing. In addition, over 1 015 800 people have been affected by floods in 1 381 municipalities across six regions of the Philippines. 100 169 people have been evacuated, of which 57 691 remain inside 381 evacuation centres.
