Despite the heartache and the devastation — or perhaps because of it — people who survived Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria say they have much to be grateful for this Thanksgiving.

The holiday comes just a week before the official close on Nov. 30 of one of the most destructive hurricane seasons in recent memory.

We asked residents of Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands what they’re thankful for this Thanksgiving. Some answers might surprise you.
