SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE, October 2, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Singapore – Zycraft Pte. Ltd. (Zycraft), and Hope First Response Pte Ltd (HOPE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) to provide fast response maritime medical evacuation services within and around Singapore waters. The MOU couples HOPE’s strength in casualty and medical evacuations with Zycraft’s proven Shomari vessels and sea operations capabilities. Together the companies bring a one-stop maritime medical response and evacuation capability to emergencies that happen onboard ships. With over a thousand ships at anchor in and around Singapore and with several thousand personnel onboard these ships, medical emergencies due to accidents or illness do happen. In addition, medical incidents also occur in open sea outside of Singapore and within the neighboring Riau islands region.

In the past, evacuations were conducted using ad-hoc transportation means and often times, these vessels were not suitable for the task. Zycraft’s Shomari vessels can travel at over 35 knots even in challenging sea conditions. The vessels are equipped with the SEAKEEPER™ gyro stabilization system that virtually eliminates roll motion. This is a significant factor for the medical team to function effectively and safely while the vessel is speeding to shore.

Medical Director of HOPE Dr Charles Johnson stressed that this MOU is a major boost to the shipping community in Singapore and further strengthens Singapore’s position as a shipping and medical hub. “We aim to provide a one-stop service to personnel in need of urgent medical treatment and this collaboration makes it easier for the shippers. Having a strong marine partner means we are familiar with the capabilities of the vessel, and can focus on getting ourselves ready for the task. We have conducted several medevacs using Zycraft’s Shomari vessels and MOU formalizes the arrangement and ensures the development of Standard Operating Procedures that will further enhance the service. ”

Zycraft’s President James Soon stated “Our vessels are fast, stable and have a long operating range. In many places in the region, access to quality medical care is lacking and at the same time, easy transfers to Singapore are also not readily available. This partnership with HOPE enables us to develop strong relationships with regional authorities that are critical to ensuring that medevacs can be smoothly and quickly performed.”
